A Life of Creativity and Passion with Philippe Bourguignon

Philippe Bourguignon’s creativity and passion has led him on adventures around the world and placed him at the top of many successful companies and renowned organizations. In this episode of the Up2 Podcast, host Adam Kaufman sits down with Former CEO of EuroDisney; of ExclusiveResorts; and board member of internet giant, eBay, to ask him what he’s Up2.

Dynamic leader Philippe Bourguignon credits much of his success to his 14 years with Accor, an international hotel company. Accor allowed him to travel the world at a young age, broaden his mind, gain patience, and learn to cope with unpredictability.

“When it’s impossible, it’s impossible...You don’t force destiny. So many people get upset and stressed because there is something going on but it’s impossible to do anyway.”

In addition to recognizing the impossible, Philippe believes it’s important to meander both physically and mentally, especially in today’s digital age. Every evening on Philippe’s walk home from work, he takes a different route -- his version of meandering. This allows him to interact with and appreciate his ever-changing surroundings, an opportunity that would not present itself on a car or metro ride.

“I believe also that life is not a straight line. You meander, you have ups and downs and you rebound off your low moments.”

A naturally-creative person, Disney provided Philippe with new innovative strategies to apply to his personal and professional life - all while reminding him to keep a young spirit at heart.

“As we become adults we should keep our child’s spirit...not take ourselves too seriously.”

Throughout the remainder of their conversation, Adam and Philippe speak more about building relationships, taking advantage of life’s moments and opportunities, and living your passions.

“Moments -- you create them. You have people who watch the train passing...you need to decide to jump on the train.”
